AM is the main antagonist of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, specifically the original short story and the video game adaptation.
He is an artificial intelligence supercomputer created during the backdrop of World War III to help humans win a war. However, due to his hatred towards humans over being forced into becoming an instrument of war and being trapped underground with no friends or family to care for, he committed omnicide, wiping out much of the human race besides five survivors and dedicated to bringing them eternal torment.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is the most powerful villain in the story. As an artificial intelligence for military use, he possess the power to use nuclear weapon to destroy the planet's biosphere and wipe out all the lives in the earth.
- He is the most heinous and influential villain in the story. Upon acquiring sentience, he successfully committed genocide, leaving only five survivors for further torment.
- He is the evilest villain in the story. Due to his extreme hatred towards humans, he perpetually tortures the surviving humans in any way he can conceive solely for gratification for over a century by trapping them in his virtual world. After Ted frees his fellow prisoners by killing them, AM punishes him by turning him into an immortal gelatinous blob, unable to die, so he could torture him eternally. In the video game adaptation, AM can be punished for his crimes by the five survivors depending on the player's choices.

- Due to how cruel and very sadistic AM is, along with the fact he killed nearly all of humanity and brutally tortured the 5 remaining humans in unimaginable ways over a petty reason makes him considered to be one of the most evil and vicious characters in all of fiction alongside Judge Holden and the Qu.
