Acnologia was a powerful black dragon and one of the most powerful dragons in Fairy Tail. He was a powerful threat to humanity and the world and was only interested in causing destruction. He is the overarching antagonist of Fairy Tail franchise.
He was voiced by Kosuke Toriume in Japanese version and by J. Michael Tatum in English version.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- In the past, Acnologia was responsible for numerous deaths which includes slaughtering a group of dragons.
- He has been a threat for hundreds of years and have been reviled and feared by many people across the world.
- For a moment, he was built up to be a terrifying threat before he appeared. When agents of the magic council found out that Zeref said Acnologia's name one time, it was enough to terrify the agents so much to the point that they left Tenrou Island for their own safety.
- When he first appears, Acnologia fought Fairy Tail all by himself without sustaining any major injuries or damages and managed to destroy Tenrou Island with one blast.
- He was shown to be one of the evilest characters in the story by committing mass murder and seeking to cause mass destruction for fun. Even though he had a tragic past where his home was destroyed by dragons (including the original Acnologia), his behavior after that wasn't that of someone who is shown to be broken, instead behaving in an actively destructive, psychopathic manner while also choosing to take the name of the dragon to make dragons fear him. It is also clearly shown onscreen during his origin that he purposely chose to be extremely evil, wanting to be a threat to innocent lives.
- Despite posing a level of threat similar to Zeref, he was much more powerful than the latter to the point that Zeref, who was one of the most powerful mages in the world, could not stop Acnologia by himself. The only way Zeref could stop him is by absorbing Mavis' magic and obtaining the power of a God, to reset the timeline to a time before Acnologia gained too much power.
- Also, unlike Zeref (who was never evil, but extremely complicated and misunderstood, only wanting to reset the current timeline to ensure a better future for humanity, wanting to set things right for others when he couldn't do it for many years), Acnologia wants the complete destruction of all of humanity, even wanting to treat Zeref and Mavis as his playthings once all mortals are dead. Acnologia has purely selfish and psychopathic goals that have nothing complicated nor deep.
- He intended to destroy the world with his immense powers and became more powerful when he absorbed the Space Between Time.
