Black Doom is the main antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog fan-comic Flashback.
He is the vengeful leader of the Black Arms as well as the technical parent of Shadow the Hedgehog. Having managed to return since his last defeat, Black Doom manages to finish what he started by wiping out humanity, just as he planned to on his first crusade against Earth.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- Due to being part of a standalone work as opposed to the entire Sonic universe and having no direct competition, he is the most powerful antagonist in the work, thanks to his supernatural abilities as well as having an entire army to back him up for his revolution against humanity. He was likely to get even more powerful too if he obtained all seven Chaos Emeralds, becoming Devil Doom and becoming an even bigger threat to humanity than he already was.
- He is the most influential villain in the work. As not only did he affect the events prior by being the one to lead the creation of Shadow the Hedgehog as well as the events of that game, which are explicitly stated to be canon to this story, but he's also responsible for the main conflict of the comic itself, as it was him sending the Black Arms to Sonic's world in the present that lead to Shadow having to go back into the past in order to try and find a way to stop him. He also has a direct conflict with the protagonists due to him kidnapping Maria Robotnik in the present to use as leverage against Shadow and attempting to wipe out all of humanity.
- He is the most heinous and evil antagonist in the work, as they sent the Black Arms to terrorize Sonic's planet for the sake of obtaining the Chaos Emeralds so that he can then use them to restart his plan to wipe out humanity and presumably use it as a food source, as well as other crimes such as capturing the youmg Maria Robotnik and using her as leverage against Shadow so that he has to help him in his plans. He also has no redeeming qualities as he outright insults the Black Arms for not getting the right Chaos Emerald and otherwise shows no care for anyone but himself.
- He's the most serious antagonist in the work, as his threat against humanity as well as his acts of kidnapping Maria to use as leverage against Shadow are played completely seriously.
