The Bloodwolf is the main antagonist of The Adventures of Puss in Boots, a spin-off from the Shrek franchise.

He's a wolf-alike deity that was said to have apparently existed before time itself and wishes to destroy Earth, and also became the archenemy of the Great Mage Sino before being banished to the Underworld.

He was voiced by Clancy Brown, who also voiced Evil Entity in Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated.

Actions and Characteristics[]

  • He's one of the most powerful villains in the series as he is an immortal deity that has existed before time itself and possesses superpowers such as telekinesis, electric powers, the ability to control peoples fears and the ability to travel between worlds, making him exceptionally powerful with the only villain that can rival him in power being Death himself. He was also so powerful that he was one of two villains that Puss couldn't defeat normally (the other being Death) and Sino had to sacrifice himself to re-seal the Bloodwolf to the Underworld in order to save the planet from his wrath.
  • He is the most influential antagonist in the show, as he's mentioned frequently in the 2nd and 3rd seasons, as well (without his knowing), a cult named the "Ancient and Terrible Order of the Bloodwolf" that worshipped him, as well as having a statue of himself for the rest of the aforementioned 2nd and 3rd, and 4th seasons, with him still being mentioned in the 5th and 6th.
  • He's the most heinous villain in not just in the Puss in Boots spinoffs, but in the Shrek franchise as a whole, since he attempted to wipe out Earth twice, making him an omnicidal maniac and he mind raped the citizens of a whole town with their worst fears, with him intending to keep a few people alive once he finished his omnicide just so he could continue to mind rape them, two acts that are exceptionally heinous by the relatively low heinous standard of the Shrek franchise/Puss in Boots spinoffs. He also has nothing mitigating, since Death is on the Grey Zone and too affable, in addition to not being heinous enough, and Jack is a bit too comedic in comparison while the Bloodwolf is played dead seriously.
  • He is symbolic for the concept of fear itself as he is stated to be the source of all fear and has the ability to control it entirely. As previously stated, he intended to keep some people alive after he slaughtered the planet just for the sake of torturing them with their worst fears which only adds to his symbolism.
  • He is the equivalent of Satan in the Shrek series and Puss in Boots spinoffs as he comes from the Underworld, has demonic powers and a demonic looking design and is stated to have existed before humanity and even time itself was a concept.
