Bully is an action video game published on 17 October 2006 by Rockstar Games, which is also known with other famous franchises such as Red Dead and Grand Theft Auto.
While Bully's heinous standards are not too high when compared to the other franchises of Rockstar since the game mainly revolves around teenagers and students with lesser resources, there are still a few characters who manage to pass the standards, with Gary Smith being the most impactful one.
Plot[]
Bully revolves around a 15-year-old student named Jimmy Hopkins and his rise within the Bullworth Academy. Throughout the game Jimmy has to both fight and befriend the cliques, and eventually defeat Gary Smith, the main antagonist and TUE, to complete his rise and pacify the bullying at the academy.
Close Contenders for the Ultimate Evil[]
Russell Northrop[]
Being the Bullworth's strongest and most intimidating bully, Russell was one of the earlier villains introduced in the storyline, constantly harassing the students within the school alongside his fellow bullies clique, including Jimmy and Gary themselves. Throughout the first chapter, he and his clique constantly antagonized Jimmy and acted as the threatening force for him, and he individually acted as the final boss of the said chapter, fighting Jimmy with the lust of harming him.
However, during the last mission of the chapter, it was Gary Smith who provoked Russell to fight Jimmy, and he redeemed himself once getting beaten by him. He later acted as a friend and firm ally for the rest of the game, helping Jimmy fight the bigger threats and the other clique leaders.
Derby Harrington[]
A manipulative elitist, Derby acted as a major antagonist throughout the game. He, alongside his fellow preppies, personally attempted to defeat Jimmy in the second chapter but got knocked out by the latter and forced to acknowledge him as the "boss". However, unlike the other clique leaders, Derby remained being manipulative and urged Jimmy to tag Greasers' hood, instigating the events between the Greasers and Jimmy. He, in the chapter five, manipulated Jimmy again by boosting his ego and urging him to spray graffiti on the roof of Town Hall, which almost caused Jimmy's corruption to become a power hungry leader like Gary Smith. He later participated to the riot that Gary Smith instigated alongside his fellow preppies.
However, he fails the heinous and influence standards to the Townies and Gary, who have committed some homicidal actions. He also partially redeemed himself at the end of the storyline.
Gurney[]
A sadistic pyromaniac, Gurney commits one of the -if not the- most heinous actions of the game by setting fire to the gymnasium, which could have caused the deaths of three students inside there and four more people who were near to the gymnasium. He visibly enjoyed burning the gymnasium, given that he sadistically laughs, yells and brags about it while claiming that this is a revenge for being expelled from the academy and they will be sorry for it. Also his physical strength and the impact of his main actions made him close to being TUE as the previous actions of the other villains are too bog standard when compared to Gurney's personality and actions.
However, it is later revealed that Gurney is one of the members of Townies clique, which is led by Edgar Munsen, the motivator of Townies' subsequent actions, including Gurney's crimes.
Edgar Munsen[]
The leader of Townies clique, Edgar Munsen is the original motivator of his goons' actions, including Gurney's arson action, kidnapping of Johnny Vincent, stealing the Preppies' trophies and burning them all, and releasing twenty rats into the school library. He later attempts to kill Jimmy in an incredibly dangerous as he tried beating him to unconsciousness with a pipe, and later throwing him into the acid below the platform while sadistically taunting him.
However, when he loses to Jimmy in their fight, he redeems himself and admits that he is manipulated by Gary Smith into helping him to take over the school, and Gary is the true motivator of all actions committed by Townies.
