“ | Clockwerk: Sly Cooper, you have escaped my gas chamber and destroyed my death ray. Remarkable. You Coopers always find a way to beat me! Sly: Always?! So that was you in the background of all those old pictures in Thievius Raccoonus! How old are you? Clockwerk: Perfection has no age... Sly: What? You're immortal? Clockwerk: Revenge is the prime ingredient in the fountain of youth. I've kept myself alive for hundreds of years with a steady diet of jealousy and hate, awaiting the day when I would finally eclipse your family's thieving reputation. |

~ Clockwerk, revealing to Sly that he is the one that attempted to kill his family for generations. |
Clockwerk is the main antagonist of the Sly Cooper franchise. He is an intelligent and envious owl that immortalized himself through his own hate and envy of the Cooper clan so he could kill them for generations to usurp their reputation and become the world's only master thief. While he would be defeated by the clan in the first game, his influence would never fade, leaving a massive impact on the series that would still be felt long after his death.
He was voiced by Kevin Blackton.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He's one of the series most heinous and evil characters, being responsible for the death of Sly's father, repeatedly attempting to kill off the Cooper Clan from as far back as the ice age, founding the Fiendish Five, which leads to hundreds of deaths by Sir Raleigh and the Panda King's hands and admitting he only spared Sly because he wanted to show the world how the Cooper clan are nothing without their book, the Thievius Raccoonus.
- He is the series most influential villain, being directly responsible for the events of the first game, indirectly responsible for the events of the second game, responsible for Bentley becoming crippled and wheelchair bound and being Sly's most personal enemy that caused all the hardship he had to endure with losing his father.
- He is one of the most powerful characters in the series, having access to extremely advanced technology that he uses to create superweapons, being a roboticized owl with physical enhancements such as hypnotic eyes and being the leader of the Fiendish Five, a group of ruthless criminals that also have their own bases of operations.
- He is vastly intelligent, being able to create anachronistic technology that is way ahead of its time and his ruthlessness allows him to come up with plans that are efficient, yet still heinous. He also was able to immortalize himself and attempt to kill the Cooper Clan for generations all the way from at least 10,000 B.C, though it could be possible he may have utilized time travel to do this, since he said he was kept alive for centuries in the first game, not millennials.
