Darkrai is the main antagonist of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness, and Explorers of Sky.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is responsible for all of the events of the main story occurring by sabotaging Temporal Tower causing time to go out of wack which is the reason for an increase in bad Pokémon, mystery dungeons popping up in the setting and the dark future that the protagonist originates from.
- Sabotages the attempt to change the future by attacking the Protagonist and Grovyle as they're travelling through time causing the Protagonist to transform from a human to a Pokémon and suffer amnesia.
- Even after Temporal Tower is saved from collapse Darkrai's actions continue to leave an impact on the world with the protagonist and partner causing a space distortion due to the former originating from a future that no longer exists and the latter travelling to said future and returning from it which prevents them from being able to evolve at the end of their graduation exam.
- He disguises himself as Cresselia using realistic illusions and uses it to manipulate the heroes into thinking that their existence is a threat to the world and tricks Palkia into believing the same thing causing the latter to try and eliminate them.
- After his true identity is exposed he invites the heroes into the Dark Crater and when they arrive he tries to trick the protagonist into joining him by making it seem like the partner character joined quickly which mainly fails because the protagonist sees right through the deception as a result of knowing the partner would never say what they said in the illusion.
- When his attempt to recruit the protagonist fails he summons 6 capable henchmen to help take out both the protagonist duo and Cresselia in one fell swoop.
- After being defeated he summons a dimensional hole to retreat and try and plunge the world into darkness in another time which only fails as a result of Palkia's interference.
- Among the Bittercold and Dark Matter Darkrai manages to stick out from them by being the only one who survives the main story and continues to wreak havoc on the post-game and he manages to corrupt the Pokémon who governs time through the destruction of time and tricks the Pokémon who governs space into attacking the heroes and then traps him into a nightmare when he's beaten.
