| “ | I am a liberator! No longer must we serve the filthy parasite. No longer need we gaze upon his waddling gait, polluting the purity of our bloodline. No longer will we tolerate his primitive brain and violent impulses. Oh, terrorists... do you not see that my cause is just? Do you not see there is no place for you in this world? No matter how many soldiers you murder, how much concrete you shatter, you will never soil my legacy. I have willed into existence a new age — an age of reason, of purity, of strength. Your legacy is nothing but a common impulse of anger, no different from the gorilla in the jungle beating his chest... and even less impressive. | ” |

Dr. Obergruppenführer Wilhelm Strasse, better known as Deathshead is the main antagonist of MachineGames' Wolfenstein video game series.
Deathshead is a high-ranking and leading member of the Wehrmacht as well as the head of the SS Special Projects Division. Furthermore, he is a gifted but twisted scientist whose war machines ensured the victory of the Third Reich against the Allied Forces. He is also the arch-nemesis of William "B.J." Blazkowicz.
He was voiced by Robin Atkin Downes in the 2009 Wolfenstein reboot and Dwight Schultz in Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is one of the most powerful and high-ranking individuals in the Greater Germanic Reich as a Major General in the Wehrmacht and a member of the SS-Hauptamt. But what really makes him the TUE of the series is his discovery of advanced Jewish technology created by the Da'at Yichud allowing him to turn the tide of the war resulting in the Nazis themselves taking over the world and creating the New Order after the Axis Powers defeated the Allies. This makes Deathshead both influential and dangerous since he is responsible for the dystopian state of the Wolfenstein universe. While Adolf Hitler and other Nazis may outrank him, this doesn't make him any less influential given his direct role in the discovery of the Da'at Yichud's technology and indispensable role in the Reich's victory in the war with Deathshead even describing himself as "a man who built a civilization."
- Of all the enemies BJ has faced thus far, Deathshead is the most recurring as his influence and power spans no less than four different games each with him in a prominent role. He is also a personal foe for BJ not just in creating the New Order but by dissecting the brain of either Fergus Reid or Probst Wyatt III, leading him to avenge their deaths.
- He stands out as one of the most heinous characters even by the standards of Nazi Germany through his chief role in its many crimes both before and after the Second World War. The fact that he also performed his twisted, unethical experiments upon others is enough for him to surpass the system standard on top of his general lack of redeeming qualities or other mitigating factors.
- Even at such an old age, he is highly intelligent and skilled in the many fields of science such as biology, chemistry, physics, warfare, artificial intelligence, space exploration and more. For example, upon his final defeat, he was able to pull a grenade to kill himself and wound BJ, almost killing him.
