Frederick Gideon's Demon is the overarching antagonist of Season 2 and the main antagonist of Season 3 of the Netflix TV series Locke & Key. He is a shadow demon who unlike Eden Hawkins and Dodge, just wants to wreak mass destruction for its own sake and comes very close to succeeding in destroying the world twice.
He is played by Kevin Durand.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He's by far the most influential antagonist in the show, with him being the first demon in Matheson and the last. Hence, he is essentially the main reason why all of the major conflict happened in the first place. The only villain who could really compare to him when it comes to influence is Dodge herself, and even then, most of her villainy throughout the show is bog-standard.
- He is driven primarily by his sadistic lust for mass destruction.
- He is known to be feared amongst his own kind. Even Dodge said her fellow demons treated him like a god.
- He is easily the most heinous character in the show, seeking to annihilate the entire world and cause billions of deaths.
- Unlike Eden who has insecurities and Dodge and Sam, both of whom are extremely affable and redeemable, he had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. In fact, Dodge and Sam mainly exhibited their redeemability through their moral fiber in courageously fighting against him in the first place when neither of them had to at all.

Trivia[]
- The real Frederick Gideon, despite being a mass murderer who tries to burn teenage girls and old ladies for laughs and is the one who activated the first portal to the Black Door in the first place, ultimately doesn't stack up in terms of heinousness or influence. Thus, the demon possessing him is The Ultimate Evil.
