“ | The blood of Ymir must not die out. If you die, my daughters, have your grandchildren eat your spines. If my grandchildren die, their spines will be passed from child to child. To all of my progeny. My Eldians will rule the lands of this land with their massive frames. And my Titans will continue their reign. Into eternity, so long as this world of mine remains. | ” |
King Fritz is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside the source of all living matter) of Attack on Titan. He was the power-hungry ruler of Eldia 2000 years ago and used the power of his slave, Ymir, to take over the world. He had his family continue the legacy of eating their children and transforming into Titans, thus making him responsible for every bad event in the series.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- Despite only appearing in one episode as a long-dead flashback character, he is the impactful character as he is posthumously responsible for every bad event in the series due to using Ymir's power to kill billions of people who opposed his rule, create more Titans and ruling the world in his name. Overall, his actions lead to millenniums of humans being horrifically enslaved by his descendants.
- He is most unforgivably evil character in the show for being a cruel tyrant, child rapist and many other things. While Eren arguably did just as bad, if not worse than him, Eren has a legitimate tragedy and is a well-intentioned extremist while Fritz has no excuse for his actions and is posthumously responsible for Eren's descent into villainy regardless.
- It was initially thought that Ymir Fritz had committed the atrocities that led to the series when in actuality she was being controlled by Fritz himself. He is thought to be the "Devil of all Earth" who tempted Ymir into becoming evil in modern theology, which isn't that far off.
- He arguably has the most resources of any villains has he not only has Ymir (who has the ability to transform into the largest Titan in existence) and her power of the Titans complete under his control, but he also has an army of possibly thousands of soldiers by the time of Ymir's death, which presumably grew over time.
