Hopper is the main antagonist of Pixar's second animated film A Bug's Life. He is the ruthless leader of the grasshoppers who enslaved the ants and has them get grain for him while constantly forcing them to fear him. With this all being a disguise for how weak grasshoppers are in comparison to ants.

He is voiced by Kevin Spacey.

Actions and Characteristics

• He is the most influential character in the film, being the one to drive the main conflict due to enslaving the ants and forcing them to get him grain and being the Big Bad of the film.
• He is easily the most heinous character in the film, with him enslaving the Ant Colony, depriving them of food and using Thumper to fearmonger them into submission and even kills his own kind to prove a point. With him even having his grasshoppers deprive the ants of all their food at the end of the movie, willingly allowing them to starve to death simply because they couldn't provide him the grain he wanted. And while he is established to care for his mother and upheld a promise after she died, this is a small mitigating factor.
• He has the highest resources of any of villains in the movie. As all of the other antagonists are grasshoppers who work under him, with him having the top authority.
• He is relatively intelligent as seen by how he managed to trick the ants into believing they were made to serve grasshoppers for many years with him only being exposed by Flik, who managed to call him out despite his fears.
• He is the strongest amongst the grasshoppers, (barring possibly Thumper due to his feral and ax-crazy nature). He's also shown to be able to take Flik in a fight.
