Jack Merridew is the main antagonist of the 1963 and 1990's adaptations of Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Once Ralph's right-hand, Jack would grow irritated at his authority and would leave to start his own tribe, one that prioritized the hunting over escaping the island they were situated on.

Actions and Characteristics

• He has the highest power of any of the villains in Lord of the Flies due to being the leader of an entire tribe, with every other antagonist working under him.
• He has the highest level of influence of any of the villains due to being the one to drive many of the children over the edge as well as killing off a majority of the good that the island had left.
• He is the most heinous antagonist in both adaptations due to enabling the animalistic behavior of the islanders, including that of the Pure Evil Roger, making him responsible for almost all of the heinous deeds that happen within the films.
