Jadis the White Witch is the main antagonist of C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia franchise. Formerly hailing from the world of Charn, Jadis became the self-appointed dictator of Narnia and the archenemy of the Pevensie children and Aslan.
Characteristics and Actions[]
- Jadis is the most evil character in the franchise. She destroyed her own world of Charn when she battled her sister for the throne and spoke the Deplorable Word when she was on the verge of losing. That resulted in the total annihilation of all life in that realm except for the one who spoke it. After she left her world, Charn disintegrated since the last living thing within it was gone.
- Jadis was the reason evil came to Narnia. She was present in Narnia the moment Aslan sang everything into existence in The Magician's Nephew and she would eventually take over Narnia as its illegitimate ruler. From there, she caused an endless winter to befall Narnia which lasted for centuries until the Pevensie children arrived to Narnia.
- The White Witch proves to be very manipulative. In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, she tempts Edmund with Turkish Delights into betraying his siblings. He would have been killed due to the rules of Deep Magic, but Aslan dies in his place.
- The White Witch was so influential, some of the demonic creatures of Narnia attempted to resurrect her during the events of Prince Caspian.
- She was a very powerful sorceress who could petrify living creatures with her magic. It was only reversed with Aslan's breath.
