King Magnifico is the main antagonist of the 2023 animated fantasy musical Wish.
He was voiced by Chris Pine.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He has the biggest influence in the film, as he was the one who founded the Kingdom of Rosas years ago and kept peoples' wishes he stolen from them, causing Asha to try to meeting him and starting the whole plot.
- He is the most evil character in the film. Despite claiming that he does what he does out of love for his people, Magnifico is actually a paranoid narcissist who hogs all his subjects' wishes (which consist of parts of their soul) and only elects to grant the ones that benefit himself and the kingdom while cruelly wiping the memories of the wish from the people all because he could not stand the thought of something endangering his kingdom or that the undivided attention he would get would go to someone else.
- He makes his subjects complacent and materialistic. People travel to the Kingdom of Rosas to become citizens out of the false hope that their wishes would one day come true. In addition to this, Magnifico is very manipulative. He presents himself as a benevolent ruler who only is looking out for the best interests of his subjects when he actually removes their memories of their wishes to decrease the chances of anything threatening his rule.
- King Magnifico is powerful with a fair amount of magical abilities. When he uses Star as a battery, he enslaves his subjects with chains that zap them of their will to further fuel his powers.
- After enchaining his entire kingdom, King Magnifico promises his people a world where they can never hope or dream for anything, nor escape the constant, unbearable misery he has doomed them to.
