Lieutenant Rebecca Obsidian (Lt. Obsidian for short) is the main antagonist of the Inkopolis Chaos trilogy, serving as the unseen overarching antagonist of Inkopolis Chaos 1, the unseen final antagonist of Inkopolis Chaos 2, and the main antagonist of Inkopolis Chaos 3. She is the new leader of the octarians, who has a deep hatred for inklings, and wishes to wipe them out for good, along with all the octolings that joined them.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- She is the most evil villain in the entire Inkopolis Chaos trilogy. She is a ruthless and prideful psychopath, who would rule Octo Valley with an iron fist, brainwashing its population into mindless soldiers and horribly executing any traitors and inklings that stumbled into her territory. She also killed thousands of innocents, with the help of Commander Tartar, including Natalie's sister, and father, which negatively impacted her upbringing. Her true cruelty is shown, as she plans to wipe out the rest of the octolings and even the inklings that joined them out of pure xenophobic spite, so she can remake the rest of the surface in her own image. She proves herself to be way more crueler than DJ Octavio himself, as while he brainwashed everyone, she is stated to be far worse than him, as she is way more murderous and brutal, and shows no concern for anyone but herself, not even those who are on her side or her own people. While she does have a tragic backstory about not fitting in, she merely uses it as an excuse for her actions, and she beileves that horrible and sadistic crime she commits is justified.
- She is shown to be feared and respected by most of the characters, as shown when most of her prisoners cower out of fear from her, Ruby taking her seriously with fear as she explains who she is to the group, and even demanding most of her followers to call the Octarian Queen to cause others to show respect for her. Her name even causes the great Octavio to lash out at Summer to not mention her name, possibly showing that even he has standards and shows disgust at her cruelty.
- After Octavio was defeated twice, she ended up having the most influence out of the high ranking octolings due to everyone fearing her, and she ended up becoming the new leader of the octarians. She even later on denied an order from Octavio to rescue him, betraying him which ended his 100 year long reign, and solidifying her place as the new leader.
- Even though she isn’t mentioned until the third story, she does have an impact on the first and second stories. Natalie couldn’t have gone back to Octo Valley due to deserting, as she knew how strongly Obsidian punished deserters, which led to her being homeless and wanted in both Inkopolis and Octo Valley, with nowhere to go. Plus, she sent her older brother, Dylan, on a mission to kill her, which led to him deserting too, not wanting to harm his only family left. It is also possible that she sent Ruby to retrieve Natalie, although it isn’t confirmed. She even tried to kill the heroes with missiles at the end of Inkopolis Chaos 2.
- She has complete control over Octo Valley, having access to all their armies, weapons, prisons, even their people who she can brainwash on a whim, just about anything there is under her command. She also ruled over it with an iron fist, being quick to imprison or kill people for disobedience.
