The Major or by a name that is theorized to be his full name, Max Montana, is the overall main antagonist of the Hellsing manga and the Hellsing Ultimate OVA.

He is a bloodthirsty and psychopathic Nazi officer turned Military Leader after the fall of Hitler, who loves to see bloodshed of people openly massacring each other left or right for his own twisted sense of pleasurable excitement and would love nothing more than to see people kill each other and continue to do so and wage war until not even ravens would scavenge from Earth. This ruthless and nihilistic warlord is the opposing force to the Hellsing Organization and the Vatican City holy orders and commands his villainous team of artificial nazi vampires to settle the score on his genocidal war.

In the Japanese version of the story, he is voiced by Nobuo Tobita while the English version was voiced by Gildart Jackson.

Actions and Characteristics[]

He has the most influence over the plot, being the main driving force behind the conflict in the series.
He has command over an army of vampires and other supernatural creatures, including The Captain, a werewolf whose strength rivals that of Alucard (one of the most powerful characters in the series), and the nigh-unkillable Schrödinger who is simultaneously everywhere and nowhere.
He razed London to the ground in an attempt to trigger an eternal war that would destroy the world, leaving "not even ravens to scavenge from this Earth."
He has the highest confirmed kill count out of anyone in the series, which is more than 3,064,300 people. His attempted kill count was even higher.
He was very close to effectively "killing" Alucard, an extremely powerful centuries-old vampire, by having him consume Schrödinger and millions of other lives. Schrödinger can be everywhere and nowhere so long as he sees himself as a single individual, but once consumed by Alucard along with the millions of dead Londoners, that is no longer the case; therefore, Alucard would disappear. This worked for decades and was only thwarted when Alucard destroyed all the other souls within himself except for Schrödinger's.
