Megatron is the main antagonist of the Beast Era of the Transformers Generation One franchise, serving as the main antagonist of both Beast Wars: Transformers and Beast Machines: Transformers. He is a leader of the Predacons, a group of Transformers descended from the Decepticons, who named himself after the Decepticon leader of the same name. He intends to conquer Cybertron and is therefore destined to war against his arch-nemesis Optimus Primal across time.
He is voiced by David Kaye.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is one of the most heinous characters in the entire franchise, having attempted to commit genocide on the early species of humans and put the timestream in jeopardy by killing Optimus Prime, even trying to do both at the same time during his final attack on the Maximals. This villainy only continues further when he conquers all of Cybertron and tries to become a god by devouring the sparks of every Transformer before attempting recreate Cybertron and therefore the rest of the universe in his own corrupt image.
- He is certainly a powerful figure, not only due to his Predacon biology granting him superhuman strength and allowing him to transform into any animal he scans the body of, but also because of his Transmetal upgrades and later bonding with Megatron's spark exponentially increasing his size and strength and giving him fire-breathing powers. This increases as he becomes Cybertron's ruler, gaining the abilities of controlling an army of Vehicon soldiers, transferring his spark from body to body and eventually harnessing the powers of a god upon absorbing the sparks of billions.
- His authority and influence, which can only be rivalled by Optimus Prime himself, is frankly impressive considering his lowly beginnings. Starting out as a renegade member of the wide group of Predacons, he initially leads a small group of Predacons against an enemy group of Maximals which both groups growing in numbers over time. However, it is once he returns to Cybertron that he truly reaches the height of his power, managing to take over the entire planet with much ease and fill it with hordes of mindless soldiers that serve his every whim, allowing him to easier war against the Maximal team that originally outnumbered him. Thanks to his efforts with time travel, his influence has also been spread far and wide between time, allowing him to directly interact with and even nearly alter the past of the original Autobot-Decepticon conflict to suit his own means, not to mention that he's implied to have indirectly inspired his namesake and even himself as a result of his villainy being recorded in the Covenant of Primus.
