Mr Yin or known by his real name Karl Rotmensen is a major antagonist of the critically acclaimed comedy detective show Psych, serving as the main antagonist of the Yin/Yang trilogy, starting off with the episode “An Evening With Mr Yang” and concluding with the episode “Yang in 2D” and the posthumous overarching antagonist of Psych The Movie.
He is an infamous serial killer who has been haunting the police for a long time by showing his twisted Zodiac type of fashion before he killed his next victim. Having abused and brainwashed his daughter Mr Yang into becoming a serial killer, so she could commit crimes in his name as his partner and soon targets protagonists Shawn Spencer’s closest friends by playing sadistic games with him, he has become one of Shawn’s most personal enemies and the most cruelest and darkest villain in the entire show, even haunting the characters after his death.
He is portrayed by the popular Peter Weller who is famous for playing the titular character in Robocop, along with many of his other iconic roles.

- While other villains on the show have committed many other crimes and have their own trail of bodies, they have sympathetic qualities or have other mitigating factors, Mr Yin himself stands out from all of them due to having committed many murders and crimes before the stories events and lacks any redeeming qualities at all, he doesn’t show any true empathy or remorse for anyone or his crimes, even his own daughter, who he shows no true empathy or care for and admits in his death. His partnership with Allison Crowley was just purely pragmatic and out of mutual sadism too.
- He is the most influential villain in the series, as he corrupted his daughter into the villainous Mr Yang, making him responsible for her crimes and his actions would still haunt the heroes after his death as his apprentice Allison Crowley would be out to take on his legacy and seek revenge on the protagonists after his demise.
- He is the most evilest villain in the entire show given his history of abusing his daughter into becoming an emotionless murderer and his crimes as a serial killer who has massacred many innocent individuals out of thrill sadism, giving him a very high body count by comparison. He even tortures and torments most of Shawns most allies in some sadistic ways such as trying to kill Gus and letting Shawn choose between saving Abigail and Juliet from certain death.
- He is the most personal antagonist of Psych for abusing and brainwashing his daughter into becoming a sociopath for his own gain and torment Shawn Spencer by threatening his loved ones and is one of the few villains Shawn is genuinely afraid of.
- He is cunning and very strategic, as he manages to fool his adversaries into walking into deadly traps and on sadistic choices, just primarily choosing them on using their chain of clues rather than themselves. He also manages to stay one ahead of the police and use his daughter as a tool under a own alias to prevent him from being imprisoned by the police.
