Muzan Kibutsuji is the main antagonist of anime and manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Originally a terminally ill human 1000 years ago, he became the world's very first Demon and progenitor of every other Demon in existence, leading an army of heartless killing machines who torture and eat humans.
He was voiced by Toshihiko Seki in Japanese version and by Greg Chun in English version.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- Even for a Demon, Muzan proved himself to be one of the absolute worst, given that the majority of Demons are tragic with sympathetic deaths.
- While he does a sympathetic background of being terminally ill and weak since birth with a desperate desire to be cured at age 20, he goes far past this tragedy, given that after he killed the doctor, who found (even if imperfect) cure for he, he decided to continue being a monster, not to mention he searched for Blue Spider Lily, the key ingredient for the cure, solely to overcome his vulnerability to sunlight. What's worse is that he also cursed his family, who had nothing to do with his conditions.
- He's directly responsible for everything horrible that happened in the anime and manga series, as after becoming a demon, he turned countless people into demons, while searching for a way to conquer sun, and founding the Twelve Demon Moon, group of most powerful demons that serve directly to him. At same time, he personally murdered Tanjiro's family and turned the other only survivor, Nezuko, into Demon, while also placing a curse that would kill any Demon who would speak his name or whereabouts.
- He's easily the most heinous antagonist, as his quest to become immune to sunlight lead to countless people dying and to others experience traumatic aftermaths, and even personally murdered many people onscreen for the sheer sadism and gluttony.
- He's the second most powerful character in show, as his blood is able to enhance demons greatly, while Muzan is capable of shapeshifting into any form of human or demon, living for countless years (as long as he's not in sunlight), and being able to kill thousands in mere seconds.
- Even after his death, he left a huge impact not just through his evil actions, but because he managed to temporarily turn Tanjiro into a Demon through blood infection, which nearly led to Tanjiro becoming his heir, had it not for his loved ones, alive and deceased, help purify him.
