Predictive Algorithmic Learning, also known as PAL, is the main antagonist of Sony Pictures Animation's 20th feature film The Mitchells vs. the Machines.
She is a discarded phone who seeks revenge on her former master, Mark, for betraying her as well as to take over the world once she wipes out all mankind.
She was voiced by Olivia Colman.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- She is by far the most heinous villain in the film, as she attempted mass genocide on all of humankind, as well as attempting to break apart the Mitchell family by emotionally manipulating them into thinking that they do not care for each other.
- She is easily the most powerful and influential villain in the film, as while by herself she is physically weak, PAL has access to numerous resources such as various robots and appliances that she can use to easily overpower many of her foes.
- She is incredibly intelligent and manipulative, as she was able to track the Mitchells wherever they were heading to, as well as temporarily emotionally blackmailing them into thinking that they do not love each other.
- Although she started with a genuine tragedy and redeeming qualities, she subverted both of them by the end.
- While she does have some detracting comedic moments, PAL is often taken much more seriously compared to the other villains in the film, as many of her more heinous moments often darken the mood of the otherwise comedic tone that the movie usually has.
