Because I can, of course. I have total power here. I may do whatever I wish, and over these many years, I have found that I wish to see others suffer.
~ Braun, after the Lone Wanderer asks him why does he torture his residents.

Stanislaus Braun is a major antagonist in the 2008 video game Fallout 3 and an overarching antagonist for the entire series, being responsible for many of the inhumane experiments that Vault Tec performed on its inhabitants. He is a sadistic god wannabe that imprisoned his residents in his own virtual world so he could torture them in a near infinite amount of ways, doing this for at least 202 years before he is either stopped, or allowed to continue with these actions forever.

He was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.

Actions and Characteristics[]

  • Being heavily involved in the creation of the infamous vaults and their experiments in the Fallout series, Braun is responsible for all of the chaos and death that came with the incidents that followed most of them.
    • Despite not appearing in Fallout 4 physically, he is still mentioned several times in terminal entries, with the entries confirming that he oversaw and reviewed many of the experimental protocols of the vaults, making him one of the most influential villains in the series.
  • He is easily one of the, if not the most heinous Fallout villain in the series, trapping his residents in his own virtual hell where he tortured them in a variety of ways for two centuries, including allowing a kid named Timmy Neusbaum to be eaten alive by a shark repeatedly, giving the residents scurvy so they would die slowly and painfully repeatedly and giving them frostbite, along with terrifying them with avalanches. He can also determinately work with the Lone Wanderer to massacre all of the residents, just because Braun was bored of doing it himself and thought watching someone else do it would be exciting for a change, before reviving them after allowing the Lone Wanderer to leave the simulation with their father to continue torturing forever. He was also responsible for many of the inhumane experiments created by Vault-Tec, leading to countless tortures and deaths.
  • He is the most powerful character in the series, as his virtual world allows him to basically become a god through allowing him limitless possibilities, including being able to change the simulation, erasing his residents memories and reviving them, granting himself invincibility and superpowers and being able to transform the other people in the simulation to whatever he wants them to be, shown when he turned James into a dog and the Lone Wanderer into a kid, with Braun turning himself into a kid too, named Betty.
  • While the other main villain in Fallout 3, James Henry Eden, is a well intentioned anti-villain, Braun possesses none of those noble traits and is an example of what happens when a psychopath gets his hands on the ability to become a pseudo-god that can do whatever he wants with no repercussions.
