“ | I'll give them heroics. I'll give them the most spectacular heroics anyone's ever seen! And when I'm old and I've had my fun, I'll sell my inventions so that everyone can be superheroes. Everyone can be super! And when everyone's super... [chuckles evilly]... no one will be. | ” |
~ Syndrome, revealing his plan to commit cultural genocide on superheroes. |
Buddy Pine, formerly known as IncrediBoy and better known as Syndrome, is the main antagonist of Pixar's 6th full-length animated feature film The Incredibles. He was the former biggest fan and wanna-be sidekick and now arch-nemesis of Mr. Incredible who, after being turned away by his idol, became a supervillain bent on destroying him and his family, as well as eradicating the very concept of Supers.
He was voiced by Jason Lee.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He is the most influential villain out of the duology, as he was partially responsible for hero illegalization by getting in the way of Mr. Incredible's work, which would also cause the events of the second film, with Evelyn's parents being killed and causing Evelyn's villainy.
- He is extremely intelligent, building the Omnidroid, a large robot designed to kill superheroes and tricking various heroes into going to his island and being killed by the robot, in addition to building an Omnidroid even more powerful than the previous one when it was destroyed. He also sent the Omnidroid to Metroville so that it would destroy the city and this could pose as a hero by defeating it, although this ultimately failed.
- He is the most heinous antagonist in the series, as he killed a lot of superheroes by luring them to his island, attempted to kill Mr. Incredibles family out of spite and unleashed an Omnidroid on an entire city, which kills a few people on screen and endangers thousands, or even millions.
- Despite lacking any superhuman abilities, with his inventions such as his Zero-Point energy, he is able to immobilize and even overpower Mr. Incredible and his entire family of superheroes, making him an effective threat despite this.
