Thanos is the overarching antagonist of the 2021 video game Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
He is an Eternal from Titan, who later served as Gamora and Drax's archenemy, with him being the murderer of Drax's daughter Kamaria, his wife Hovat and his people in Katath, an act that haunted Drax to this day. During the bloody cosmic conflict known as the Galactic War, which was led by him, he was supposedly "killed" by Drax in retaliation for murdering his family, as well as with Gamora betraying her foster father, thereby ending the Galactic War for good.
Despite his supposed "death", however, Thanos' nigh-omnicidal actions continually haunts the people around the universe, with Drax still reeling for the loss of his family and with the Universal Church of Truth and its leader Raker attempting to brainwash anyone within the universe who suffered losses from Thanos with the "Promise" to turn them into Converted, under the guise of removing someone's grief and suffering.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He was behind the Galactic War, which not only killed trillions of lives in his brutal conquest, but also destroyed numerous planets in his terror for years. He was solely responsible for exterminating all of Gamora's people, murdering Drax's wife and daughter and his people, as well as murdering all of Groot's kind. He was responsible for also exterminating all of the Xandarians as well as destroying their planet to five pieces. Therefore, Thanos is responsible for the game's past events that are still impactful within the present-time, including the Universal Church of Truth and its leader Raker's terror across the galaxy.
- He attempted to initiate his plans of destroying all life in the universe by using his twisted "love" to Lady Death as a motivation, rather than his "plan" of exterminating half of all life on the planets he encounters, making him a serious, cataclysmic threat to anyone who was unprepared to face against him. As such when he destroyed the entire capital city of Kree-Lar with him and his army, as well as killing most of the Kree.
- He is also highly intelligent, when he used a Chitauri decoy to lure Drax's squad, leaving Katath unguarded, just so he and his army can initiate his massacre in Lugradus.
- He is mainly responsible for the primary conflict of the game, largely due to the fact that the Universal Church of Truth and its leader Raker have begun their terror to brainwash the victims of Thanos' terror (under the guise of giving them to their deepest desires) with the Promise. This means that his presence, albeit him being "dead", still lingers within the present-time.
