The Ultimate Evil of The Legend of Zelda (Era of the Wilds)

The Legend of Zelda (Era of the Wilds) is a trilogy of games that includes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the spinoff Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. It is actually a sub series of the popular videogame franchise The Legend of Zelda, however its canonicity with the other games is too loose, so it is considered separately to the mainline games. The trilogy includes some villains who caused mass murders, but the one who stands out mostly because of his power, heinousness and influence is the Demon King Ganondorf.

Plot[]

The plot of the series is set in the kingdom of Hyrule, a kingdom eternally plagued by the Calamity Ganon, an incarnation of malice and hatred coming directly from the Demon King sealed under the castle, who tried to take over the kingdom by exterminating its inhabitants and populating it with his monsters; this cycle of reincarnation caused an incalculable number of victims. The main character, Link, has to explore the kingdom to find out what happened in the past, destroy the evil forces and save Princess Zelda.

Calamity Ganon[]

It is the main antagonist of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its spinoff Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. It is responsible for countless tragedies, including the ones seen in the first game of the series: he spawned countless monsters across Hyrule and caused a lot of deaths, including the ones of the king and the four champions by the hands of its blights. It also corrupted the guardians and the divine beasts and almost killed the hero, saved only by a restorative sleep lasting 100 years in the shrine of resurrection. Only the princess could use her divine powers to contain it in order to wait for the hero to recover and save the kingdom. But even when contained inside the castle, its monsters were causing terror among the kingdom. In Age of Calamity it follows Terrako back in time in order to stop the him fro perventing the tragedies mentioned before. It is also implied that its damages to the castle weakened the seal placed on Ganondorf, letting him break free.

That said, it is ultimately just an offshoot of Ganondorf, which means that it is outclassed by the Demon King in terms of influence, power and heinousness.

Astor[]

He is the secondary antagonist of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. He is an evil prophet who follows Calamity Ganon and wants to awaken it, thinking he can control it. He created malice phantoms of the four champions and directly attempted to kill Link and Zelda. He worked with the Yiga Clan in order to awaken Ganon, but he later betrayed them and attempted to kill them to use their souls to power the bligths.

However, he’s ultimately a pupped manipulated by Calamity Ganon, who ultimately betrays him and uses him to get a new powerful form, meaning that he falls short to it, and it’s unfair to compare him with Ganondorf.
