Ursula is the main antagonist of Disney's The Little Mermaid franchise.
In all of her appearances, she was voiced by the late Pat Carroll.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- She is by far the most heinous and evil character in the franchise, since she temporarily succeeded taking over Atlantica and rule the Seven Seas by overthrowing King Triton who is Ariel's father.
- She caused most of the conflict and events in the film.
- She was the one responsible of making deals with a bunch of merfolk and rigging them so they can fail to reach their goals and trap them in fates worse than death.
- She hypnotizes Eric into falling in love with her while disguising her Vanessa form so Ariel would fail their deal, which makes Ursula responsible into surrendering her voice to her as payment, by making her never see her family again and would have to remain mute for the rest of her life.
- She is the most powerful villain in the franchise, and had a vast amount of magic potions, transfiguration, manipulation, high intelligence, size alteration and shapeshifting. With her necklace, she can use it to capture Ariel's voice as part of the deal to grant her legs, since its a magical item that belongs to her where it often glows as Ursula seems to start using a spell to take over Ariel's voice and transforming into Vanessa.
- She has very few redeeming qualities as she genuinely cares for her pet eels Flotsam and Jetsam by treating them with support; even showing extreme remorse for killing them by accident (thanks to Ariel).
- Despite having many comedic moments, she's still played completely seriously in-universe and so as her crimes, as they often show off her sadism.
