Venom is a major antagonist in Insomniac‘s Spider-Man video game series and the main protagonist of the story “Kiss the Ring” from issue #1 of the 2024 comic book miniseries Venomverse Reborn.
He is a parasite-like organism named a symbiote who, while attached to Harry Osborn, intends to "heal the world" by painfully terraforming all human life into symbiotes. He is the new arch-nemesis of Miles Morales/Spider-Man and one of the two arch-nemesises of Peter Parker/Spider-Man and his second most hated enemy (After Otto Octavius).
He was voiced by the late Tony Todd.
Actions and Characteristics[]
- He was the most heinous villain of the series, first attempting to bond with Dr. Curt Connors when discovered and had to have his arm shot off to save him, bonded with Peter Parker/Spider-Man and turned and corrupted him into a much darker evil Spider-Man, even possessing him in his sleep making him attack Kraven's hunters and almost killing his Girlfriend Mary-Jane Watson. After Peter eventually rejected the symbiote and bonded with Harry Osborn, he went on to attack and kill many of Oscorp security guards and more of Kraven's hunters until fighting the game's other Big Bad Kraven himself and killing him by eating his head, then he manipulated Harry's dream of healing the world by planning on turning everyone on the planet into Symbiotes, starting with Manhattan and forcefully infected Mary Jane with a Scream Symbiote to spite Peter.
- He arguably had the most influence across the series because Connor's arm was shot off because of it, he made Lizard formula in an attempt to regrow his lost limb but ended up mutating into a giant lizard, also making his wife and child leave him, gave Harry nightmares for years while in a tank with him, corrupted Peter into being a much darker Spider-Man and lastly left Harry back in a comatose state and Norman Osborn planning on using the G-Serum.
- He was the most powerful villain who could create tendrils from his fingertips, turn anyone into symbiotes in seconds and could make his own makeshift boss arena in seconds too. He gave Kraven, both Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, and Mary Jane an extremely difficult time putting down, even his most known weaknesses, sound and Anti-Venom did hardly anything to stop him.
- While he is an extremist with a genuine desire to heal the world as he sees it, this is a minor aspect of his character and mostly overshadowed by his heinous actions.
